BROOKLYN — Uncomfortable and unexpected waits are part of the game for some players in just about every draft.
Illini product Kasparas Jakucionis was widely projected to be a lottery pick, but he was left to wait at his table in the NBA Draft's green room beyond that and then some. There was anxiousness around him as the picks kept going by.
His agent, Tadas Bulotas, left the table multiple times during picks in the teens to field a call. He'd walk away from the table, talk for a minute, and then come back but still with no certainty on a landing spot. Illini head coach Brad Underwood, who sat across from Jakucionis at his table, got up at one point and walked away with a look of surprise.
