Leeds United have been linked with some big-money transfers this summer, and some big-earners too. Thankfully for Leeds fans, it looks like one of those rumours is a fleeting one.

Leeds United have given their players pay rises following promotion to the Premier League. On top of that, the 49ers have given Daniel Farke a huge summer spending budget.

It’s reported that Leeds United have a £150million transfer budget to spend on new players this summer.

We could yet see the Whites break their club-record transfer, which remains that of Georginio Rutter in 2023 in a deal that cost Leeds United £35.5million at the time. But which player might eventually break that record remains to be seen.

Leeds have signed Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer, and Farke continues to be linked with more and more free agents, so it might be a while yet before we see Leeds spend big on another player, after signing Jaka Bijol.

Truth behind the Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Leeds United rumours

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is out of contract this summer. The 28-year-old Sheffield-born striker has been hit and miss over the last few seasons, scoring 16 Premier League goals in the 2020/21 season but then going on to score just three in 26 last time round.

Leeds United have reportedly held talks with Calvert-Lewin ahead of his contract expiring at the end of June. But Everton are understood to be hopeful of renewing his stay at the club this summer.

Meanwhile, TeamTalk have now revealed the truth behind the Calvert-Lewin to Leeds United rumours. They write that Calvert-Lewin is ‘not a player Leeds will likely pursue, in spite of the report’, adding that the Whites face stern competition from West Ham for his signature anyway.

Leeds United have dodged a bullet, but something needs to happen soon

Per Salary Sport, Calvert-Lewin earns a whopping £120,000-a-week. Given his injury record and mixed scoring form, signing him would’ve been a huge gamble for Leeds, whose fans voiced their complete concern about the idea on social media recently.

Though Farke knows Nmecha simply isn’t enough. There’s the ongoing uncertainty over Mateo Joseph’s Leeds United future, and slight uncertainty over whether or not Patrick Bamford will stay too, really leaving just Joel Piroe and Lukas Nmecha as guaranteed strikers for next season.

Leeds United will let Bamford decide whether he stays or not this summer. That could all depend on who comes in, as Leeds United have been linked with several strikers but don’t really seem to be close to signing any of them right now.

But a bullet may well have been dodged with Calvert-Lewin nonetheless.
