Chelsea are in contact with one Barcelona star. The player has been one of the best in the world in recent seasons. But, he has now fallen down the pecking order at Barca. Hence, he might be available in market and the Blues are keeping close tabs on his situation.
Chelsea are set to improve most of the areas on the pitch. Enzo Maresca has felt the need to do so after heading his club back into Champions League. The board is ready to back him and improve the areas where they have been weak. One such area is goalkeeping position.
Robert Sanchez is the current first choice keeper at West London. But, he has not been consistent for them. He has commited multiple errors due to which the Blues are ready to move-on from him. They were keen to replace him before start of Club World Cup but were unable to get successful in that.
Chelsea tried to sign Mike Maignan from AC Milan. They offered €15 million to sign him but Milan rejected the offer. As a result, the Blues had to stick with Sanchez as starting keeper. But, they are still in hunt of new keeper as Spaniard has been unable to impress in CWC.
According to Caught Offside, Chelsea have made contact to learn about Marc Andre Ter-Stegen. They were in contact to learn about the 33 year old earlier in summer and now are back at it. The German keeper is likely to leave Barca and the Blues are keeping him as their option.
Barca have signed Joan Garcia as their new keeper. He is expected to take the starting position under Hansi Flick. In addition, the Spanish giants have Szczesny as their backup keeper. Hence, Ter-Stegen’s changes of playing have reduced even further.
