Giants Firing Coach Brian Daboll Could Be Up To Jaxson Dart Development

The New York Giants had a less-than-stellar season in 2024, finish dead last in the NFC East with a 3-14 record. As a result, head coach Brian Daboll is thought by many to be on the hot seat.

In a recent article by Gilberto Manzano, he lists some of the biggest winners and losers so far this offseason. For one of his winners, he has the Giants, who he thinks improved enough that Daboll could be in a position to prove the doubters wrong in 2025.

"After failing to make it work with Daniel Jones, a quarterback Daboll inherited, this coaching staff will get to develop first-round selection Jaxson Dart, who will start training camp behind Russell Wilson," Manzano wrote. "If Dart shows flashes like Maye did last season with a bad team, that might be enough to keep Daboll around for another season."

Or ... if he doesn't? That could determine whether Daboll moves from the hot seat to getting fired.

Daboll was named the NFL Coach of the Year in first season with the team in 2022, where he led not the best Giants roster to the NFC Divisional round. They have not made it to the playoffs since then, but not all of it is necessarily Daboll's fault.

Daniel Jones clearly did not work out at quarterback, but Daboll was not responsible for drafting him. He is, however, responsible for helping draft Malik Nabers, who was one of the best wide receivers in the league in his rookie season.

With all of the improvements the team has made around stars like Nabers and Dexter Lawrence II on the defensive side, Daboll will be looking to prove that he should not go anywhere.
