Oh no: “Really special” Liverpool player’s agents now left “upset” with Reds – journalist

**A “really special” Liverpool player’s representatives have been left “upset” with the Reds over their contract stance, according to journalist Pipe Sierra.**

This is a summer of huge change at Anfield, with Milos Kerkez now the latest new signing to have arrived at the club, coming in from Bournemouth.

There are plenty of players who could leave Liverpool, however, with Jarell Quansah potentially joining Bayer Leverkusen, for example, and Darwin Nunez a key target for Napoli.

Now, according to Sierra on [_X_](https://x.com/PSierraR/status/1938287318013546948), Luis Diaz’s agents are “upset” with the Reds over their handling of a new deal for the Colombian, with talks over a contract extension reportedly disappearing.

_“Exclusive: Luis Díaz and his entourage are upset with Liverpool’ss stance. They feel the club has gone back on their word (once again with the player). Something similar happened before with his contract renewal and now with the possibility of a transfer.”_

**Diaz deserving of improved new deal**

---------------------------------------

Diaz enjoyed an excellent season for Liverpool in 2024/25, scoring 17 goals in all competitions and impressing in two different attacking roles.

His stock has arguably risen from this time last year, when Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon was mentioned as a possible replacement for him, and [Jurgen Klopp](https://onefootball.com/en/news/liverpool-boss-klopp-hails-really-really-special-luis-diaz-after-fa-cup-final-win-35094809) has always been a fan, saying;

_“What a boy, what a story, what a player but he should have scored! He agrees probably. The speed he has is insane. He gets our football 100 per cent. We thought we saw that at Porto. He fits like a glove to our football and that’s really really special.”_

Granted, Diaz may now be 28 years of age, and therefore a long-term deal would have its risks, but he is showing no signs of slowing down – if anything, he is heading into his peak.

While opinion may be split over a new contract for the Colombia international – his current deal ends in 2027 – if the club are handling his future badly, he doesn’t deserve to be treated that way.

It is a big decision for Liverpool to make, though, and there is seemingly no guarantee that Diaz will definitely be at Anfield come the end of August, amid links with Barcelona.
