Liverpool have the opportunity to freshen up their ranks this summer with some new signings

Liverpool have already delved into the market to bring in Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. They have also managed to tie up new deals for key pair Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah. However, Trent Alexander-Arnold has left for a new challenge at Real Madrid.

The Reds turned to Arne Slot as their replacement for Jurgen Klopp last year. Prior to his move to Anfield, he caught the eye in Holland with Feyenoord. The Dutchman managed to win the Premier League title at the first time of asking ahead of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Liverpool long-term admirers of West Ham’s Mohamed Kudus

Liverpool hold a long standing interest in West Ham forward Mohamed Kudus, according to Football Insider. The Reds have been linked with the player in the past. The Ghana international, who has 42 caps to his name, is an option for the Merseyside giants at this moment in time.

Kudus, 24, would give Slot something different up going forward. If he joined, he would battle it out with the likes of Salah, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz for a place in the team. He would inject even more quality into their impressive ranks.

The attacker was snapped up by West Ham in 2023 and he has since become one of their most valuable assets. He started his career over in Denmark at FC Nordsjælland as a youngster. He broke into their first-team before he emerged on the radar of Ajax who later swooped in for him in 2020.

Kudus went on to play 87 games during his days in the Eredivisie and scored 27 goals. He helped his former team win the league title twice. The Hammers then came calling and he decided to move over to England to test himself in a new league and culture.

He hit the ground running straight away in the Premier League and found the net on 14 occasions during his first campaign, eight of which came in the league. However, he struggled to reach the same heights last term which has flung his future in doubt. He only scored five goals altogether, hence why it wouldn’t be a surprise if he departed now to try something new.

Liverpool could offer Harvey Elliott in swap deal

Harvey Elliott has caught the eye playing for England Under-21’s at the European Championships recently. He has put himself in the shop window. West Ham favourite Stuart Pearce has urged him to join the Hammers and has said, as per talkSPORT: “[West Ham should sign Harvey Elliott] every day, for me. The player needs to play. When Klopp left, he said: ‘I should have played Harvey Elliott a bit more’. That was one of the statements he made.

“He identified the talent of him and identified that he didn’t play him enough. He hasn’t played enough this year once again. I think [leaving Liverpool for West Ham] would be a good move for both parties.”

If Liverpool tried to get Kudus, giving them Elliott in return would make real sense. He isn’t a bad option for the Reds to call upon in games and is a bright talent. They can’t offer him regular minutes though which is what he craves right now.

Elliott started out with spells at QPR and Fulham. He was then snapped up by his current club as a teenager 2019. He was shipped out on loan to Blackburn to test himself in the Championship and boost his development. He has played 147 matches for his current club now so far and has found the net on 15 occasions.

The fact Salah stayed put means he has to wait another two years now before his position is freed up. He can’t afford to sit on the bench for that long now and needs a change of scene. West Ham would be the perfect platform he needs now to push on.

Graham Potter will be under pressure from the off in the new season to get results. Things haven’t quite gone to plan for him since he was picked as Julen Lopetegui’s replacement. He has also managed the likes of Swansea City, Brighton and Hove Albion and Chelsea in the past.
