Arsenal Move Edges Closer as ‘One of the Best’ Gives 'Green Light' - Cristhian Mosquera
Arsenal enjoyed many high points last season, including their memorable win over Real Madrid in the Champions League. The Gunners were unable to keep pace with Liverpool in the Premier League and lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Mikel Arteta’s team failed to win a major trophy, and all connected with the club will be eager to put that right in 2025/26. There will surely be incomings and outgoings at the Emirates this summer, and it appears they have moved a step closer to strengthening their defensive options, with Cristhian Mosquera of Valencia giving the ‘green light’ for a move to Arsenal, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Arsenal Need to improve for 2025/26 Season
Cristhian Mosquera Gives ‘Green Light’ to Arsenal Move
The Athletic have reported that Arsenal are close to signing Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, with the midfielder recently meeting with Arsenal officials to finalise the transfer. While many fans are hoping for a new striker, with links to Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, it appears Zubimendi or Mosquera could be the first to arrive at the Sobha Realty Training Centre in London Colney.
The latest from Romano revealed that the Spanish defender has given the green light to the move. Mosquera is clearly interested, with Arsenal having outlined their project during early talks. Further discussions are expected soon, but this deal feels inevitable.
What Qualities Cristhian Mosquera Would Bring to Arsenal
The 20-year-old Spaniard has been described as one of the best 1v1 defenders in La Liga and would provide valuable strength in depth for Mikel Arteta‘s side.
Mosquera would add an aerial threat at set-pieces and bolster Arsenal’s defence against opposition free kicks. Comfortable in possession, he could also play a key role in progressing the ball to midfielders like Declan Rice and Martin Ødegaard. While he lacks top-level experience, his potential is clear. Arsenal are already strong defensively – but a player of Mosquera’s ability could help Arsenal challenge for trophies on all fronts.
