Everton have had a very slow start to the summer on the transfer incomings front.
The Toffees finished in 13th place in the Premier League in 2024/25 after a terrific impact by David Moyes, and fans now want to see a productive summer.
But so far, and as expected would be the case, it has mostly been about outgoings.
Several players have departed, and more could yet move on from Everton, with speculation continuing over the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Idrissa Gana Gueye and Michael Keane.
With a new accounting period about to start though, we will hopefully be seeing some more incomings.
And a man that many would like to see in Everton blue next season is Thierno Barry, the Villarreal striker.
And one claim emerging from Spain today could be good news for the club’s pursuit.

Barry has been attracting attention this summer after enjoying a good season in 2024/25.
He scored 11 goals in 31 games for Villarreal, and his exploits have caught the attention of Everton.
Barry has given Everton the green light, but there remains some work to do between the clubs.
Everton are confident of signing Barry, and MARCA reported on Thursday that Villarreal would actually be willing to help the club sign their striker.
It is claimed that if Everton can commit to paying Barry’s £34 million release clause, or near to it, then Villarreal would be willing to negotiate payment terms with the Toffees.
It is unclear at this stage how much Villarreal would want up front, but the suggestion is that they’d be open to receiving installments.
Seemingly, there is a willingness there on the part of the Spanish side to sanction the player’s exit, in what is a big boost for Everton.
Everton must wrap up Barry deal with Villarreal prepared to help
If true, this is positive news for Everton, who must now be decisive.
It seems that Barry is open to making the move, and Moyes and The Friedkin Group cannot be seen to be fumbling a deal from this position.

Given there are other clubs interested in Barry, it is important that Everton do not allow this to slip through their fingers.
Everton fans were impressed by Barry when he played for France against Germany, and many do feel like he would be a good fit – hopefully, Moyes and TFG can get it over the line.
