Man United are hoping to sell several players this summer as they aim to rebuild their squad under Ruben Amorim.
Perhaps the most intriguing sale is of Garnacho, who has been linked both with Chelsea and Serie A clubs. He made over 50 appearances for United last season, scoring 10 goals, but Amorim is still keen to sell him.
Should Man United sell Alejandro Garnacho?
Following the post, former United forward Teddy Sheringham - who helped win the treble in 1999 - was asked whether it would be a mistake for the Red Devils to sell Garnacho, considering his ability. The former England star was certain in his response.
Sheringham told Manchester World: “Not really. Not with the vibes that Garnacho is giving off. His body language, and so on. We don’t know the insides and outsides of what’s going on, of course.
“But for me, if you want to stay as a Manchester United player and fight for that privilege to be part of the Man United team, you get your head down and you carry on. Even through the tough periods. You dig deep.”
Garnacho has previously shown his dismay for Amorim after he was left out of the United team in the Europa League final defeat against Tottenham Hotspur. At that stage, it seemed inevitable that he would end up leaving this summer. There has been talk of a move to Serie A champions Napoli, who have been keen on the winger for several months.
Man United close to securing Garnacho replacement
With the Argentine seemingly on his way out this summer, the Red Devils have already identified a replacement. Mbeumo from Brentford plays as a winger, much like the Argentine, and he would most likely play in one of Amorim’s number 10 roles.
United’s £60m bid for Mbeumo hasn’t been accepted by Brentford yet, but it is understood that the Cameroon international wants the move to Old Trafford, despite reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur and his former manager, Thomas Frank.
