For any young player wanting to break into the Premier League and wider European scene, Newcastle United have fast become one of the most attractive clubs to sign for.
We’ve already seen it with the likes of Antonio Cordero, whose faith in the Newcastle project saw us beat out the likes of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona to hit signature.
And now with yesterday’s news that 18-year-old South Korean star Park Seung-soo is closing in on a move to St James’ Park, the project is appealing to talents from all over the world as we cast our net wider from a recruitment perspective.
However, there’s been a fresh twist in the pursuit of the winger, as his entourage may have other ideas for where he signs this summer…
According to South Korea outlet Ballmanchan, Park Seung-soo is keen to seal a summer move to Newcastle United.
But they also claim that the player’s camp are scouting other options for the youngster, with Marseille and Bayern Munich thought to be in the mix.
Each side is understood to be offering identical fees for the Suwon Samsung Bluewings attacker, so it’s looking likely that it will come down to the player’s personal preference as to whether he ends up in the Premier League, Ligue 1, or Bundesliga.
A decision is expected soon on the record-breaking teenager’s future, but it is hoped that the man himself is favouring the switch to Tyneside before potentially heading out on loan.

Reliable journos “Ballmanchan” report #NUFC have made the offer & Park is “thinking things through”.

Of the three listed teams exploring signing the 18-year-old, we do hold certain advantages over both Marseille and Bayern Munich.
Marseille have shown in recent windows that they are more than capable of splashing the cash, whilst the appeal of playing alongside compatriot Kim Min-jae at Bayern could appeal to Park.
But it may once again come down to the allure of eventually playing in the Premier League, as Korean star Son Heung-Min has done to great effect over much of the last decade.
The club’s recent dedication to scouting future stars and putting them on a clear path into the senior system, whether that’s as a member of the PL2 squad or sent out on loan (like Cordero reportedly going to Ajax) shows how important players like Park will be to the long term success of the project.
Whilst today’s news may be a slight pivot from previous reports that the player was all-but-officially joining us in the coming weeks, there’s still a lot for Newcastle fans to be optimistic about concerning this potential signing.
