"My understanding is..." - Fabrizio Romano says 'frightening' star wants to join Everton after…

Everton boss David Moyes watching on from the touchline

Everton could shortly be set to bring one of their key targets to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Fabrizio Romano has exclusively revealed to GIVEMESPORT - with Villarreal striker Thierno Barry thought to be 'keen' on a move to the Toffees after a strong season at the Spanish club.

Barry, born in France, joined Villarreal from Swiss outfit Basel last season, scoring 11 goals in just 35 games for the club in his maiden La Liga debut. A supremely talented striker, Barry scored five goals in three Swiss Super League games earlier this campaign prior to his move to Spain, and that output has alerted David Moyes.

With Everton looking likely to see long-serving striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin depart the club in the coming weeks, as well as loanee striker Armando Broja returning to Chelsea after a failed loan spell, a striker is imperative in terms of output and depth, with Portuguese striker Beto being the only senior option they have to spearhead their attack for the upcoming Premier League campaign.

And that could see the Toffees sign Barry, according to Romano - who revealed exclusively to GIVEMESPORT that the French under-21 international is a player they like, and that Barry is 'quite keen' on the move. He said:

Barry, just 22, is without doubt one of the finest prospects outside the top four in La Liga and his goalscoring record may only improve with age.

Despite Villarreal's qualification to the Champions League, the lure of the Premier League and its wages may prove too much temptation, and the player would be challenging himself as their de-facto first-choice starter with Beto having failed to properly nail down a first-team starting spot under Moyes in recent months, with eight goals in the Premier League last season.
