Rangers star wanted by Potter now set for London Stadium but it's a major blow for West Ham

A Rangers star named as a top target of Graham Potter and head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay is now set for the London Stadium but it’s actually a major blow to West Ham.

West Ham have been linked with a host of players at Rangers and Celtic this summer.

That should not be too much of a surprise given West Ham’s new head of recruitment is Scotsman Kyle Macaulay and their assistant boss is Billy Reid.

Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic have always been a hunting ground for Premier League clubs.

The Hammers will unveil Celtic’s young Scottish hotshot striker Daniel Cummings on a free transfer on Tuesday.

Daizen Maeda and Arne Engels have also been linked with moves to West Ham.

But it is an exciting Rangers star who has been named as one of Graham Potter and Macaulay’s top four targets.

West Ham are desperate to strengthen their forward line and have 22-year-old Rangers star Hamza Igamane on their wish list.

It has been reported for some time now that the Hammers have been eyeing an approach for Igamane this summer.

The Moroccan star bagged 15 goals and laid on two assists in 27 starts for Rangers last season.

It was claimed earlier this month that Igamane is one of West Ham’s top four targets.

The problem is West Ham are insisting they cannot spend significant sums until sales are made due to PSR.

The situation has enraged Hammers supporters, some of whom feel it is the final straw, signing a petition calling for a change of ownership.

West Ham vice-chair Karren Brady caused controversy when discussing transfers this week.

Brady responded to West Ham fans over the club’s transfer plans – saying it would not be ‘beneficial or appropriate’ to discuss them.

The Hammers have already missed out on a number of players who were allegedly in their sights.

Meanwhile rivals are making hay while the sun shines with the summer transfer window fully open effectively a month early this year.

Big update on Rangers star Igamane is latest West Ham setback

Now the Rangers star wanted by Potter is indeed set for the London Stadium but it’s actually a major blow for West Ham.

Because yet another one bites the dust for West Ham United as the dragging of heels in the window costs Potter dear in a deal with Rangers.

And there is a bitter irony for the Hammers to the latest transfer setback.

Because West Ham have missed the boat for Igamane after he agreed terms to sign for Lille instead.

That’s according to reports out of France, where it is stated Igamane is the man Lille have chosen to replace longstanding West Ham target Jonathan David – another player the Hammers have missed out on.

Hammers will get close look at what they could have won

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has revealed Lille are closing in on Igamane after he held a meeting with Les Dogues in which personal terms were agreed.

Lille are now said to be in talks with Rangers to agree on a fee.

So there is still a glimmer of hope West Ham could launch a late hijack while talks over the price are ongoing.

But that seems highly unlikely given the Hammers appear to be stuck in the mud over any moves right now.

To rub salt in the wound of West Ham’s window pain, they will soon get a front row seat to watch ‘what they could have won’.

Because West Ham have announced they will be welcoming Lille to the London Stadium for their final pre-season friendly game ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

And it looks like key Potter target Igamane will be leading the line for the visitors rather than the hosts.
