The San Antonio Spurs crushed the 2025 NBA Draft, selecting Dylan Harper second overall and then adding Carter Bryant with the 14th pick.
General manager Brian Wright has long been high on Bryant, and the Spurs seemed interested in trading up to draft him before being refused, as other teams already had guys on their radar. Luckily, he fell, and the Spurs snatched him up.
And with that, it seems that the draft is over for the Silver and Black. The Spurs traded their second-round pick before the draft even started to the Indiana Pacers for their second-rounder next year and some cash considerations.
The second round is scheduled for Thursday night at 7:00 PM CST, although, barring another trade, the Spurs' draft is over.
The Spurs have had massive success in the second round, drafting Manu Ginobili, Luis Scola, and Tre Jones. They also selected Goran Dragic and Leandro Barbosa in the second round, although they were traded before they could suit up.
However, between Riley Minix and Harrison Ingram, the Spurs already have two players expected to be on two-way contracts next season, and with a young core, a second-rounder who will likely take time to develop doesn't present a lot of value.
In fact, the Spurs could very easily kick the can down the road, trading their massive amounts of second-round picks for either a single first-rounder or fringe players with a little bit more experience. Either way, consider it a successful draft for San Antonio.
