Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Lens defender Facundo Medina this summer.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has delivered a verdict on the Argentina international’s history of knee setbacks.

The 26-year-old has faced multiple knee issues in the last few years.

Aston Villa may look at Medina’s knee problems

Villa will be looking for increased wear and tear in the knee area before making a decision to sign him, according to Dr Brar.

According to Allez Lens (2 May), along with them, Crystal Palace and Newcastle are also keen on the Argentine.

Aston Villa want Medina this summer and he’s able to play as a centre-back as well as at left-back.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News: “Villa may take a closer look at his history of knee injuries and if there’s any increased wear and tear in the area.

“A serious injury in the future could see him being out for a significant period of time, which is not ideal.

“While he was relatively injury-free last season, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.”

Unai Emery would love to have Medina on board

Medina is an ideal signing for Aston Villa, seamlessly fitting Unai Emery’s system that prioritises versatile, ball-playing defenders.

The Lens centre-back brings technical skill and aggression, perfectly suiting Villa’s high-line, compact tactical setups.

His ability to play both left-back and centre-back addresses their need for defensive flexibility.

Medina’s proven reliability in Ligue 1 and international experience with Argentina underscore his quality.

Lens’ financial difficulties make him an attainable target, and his potential to thrive in the Premier League aligns with the Villa Park outfit’s ambitions in domestic and European competitions.

Acquiring Medina would be a strategic move to bolster their defence and support their push for success.
