Back in 1697, William Congreve wrote the play The Mourning Bride, and in that play, he coined the line, “Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned.” Over time, that line turned into the proverb, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” While that line helped inspire Tyler Perry’s 2014 play of the same name, country icon George Strait took a different route when wanting to portray the anger that came from wronging an ex with his No. 1 hit “All My Ex’s Live In Texas.” Released during the 1980s, Strait recently performed the song when taking the stage at the Gillette Stadium.
For any fan of country music, it is considered a milestone to see Strait perform live. And with the singer already looking to retire in the near future, the chances of seeing him in person are quickly dwindling. Over the weekend, Stait traveled to Foxborough, Massachusetts, alongside Parker McCollum and Chris Stapleton. Already an unforgettable lineup, Strait decided to take a trip into the past when performing his classic hit at Gillette Stadium (the home of the New England Patriots). And thankfully, that entire performance was shared online.
Focusing on how the narrator needed to run to Tennessee after leaving behind a trail of failed relationships in Texas, the song was a nice throwback to the Western Swing era of country music. As for fans, they couldn’t get enough of the performance with comments reading, “He makes his older song new again.” Another person added, “Still the King of Country Music.”

Country Singer Causes Controversy Over Her Love for George Strait
Speaking of fans, singer Laci Kaye Booth appeared to be a massive supporter of Strait as she recently released the song, “George F****** Strait.” A song obviously about the country star, it included lyrics like, “I’ve loved a lot of cowboys in my daddy-issue phase / God, give me a man that just gets better with age / Like George f***ing Strait.”
While Booth admitted, “It’s making a lot of old biddies on Facebook mad”, the singer promised she meant no disrespect. “I didn’t want people to think that I was disrespecting [Strait], which is what a lot of the negative comments are. You have to take a deeper dive into the lyrics if you’re thinking that it’s a disrespectful song.”
Believing the backlash had to do with more than her love for Strait, Booth suggested, “When it’s something coming from a woman that doesn’t feel like it usually should come from a woman, that’s when people are going to talk the most.”
With Booth just the latest person to show their love for Strait, the country legend will travel to Inglewood, California for a night with Stapleton and Little Big Town at the SoFi Stadium on July 19th.
