Deal for £30M star ‘one to watch’ according to Leeds United source – club will put up a fight…

Despite Brenden Aaronson having a decent season for Leeds United, there are still question marks surrounding him. Last season seemed like an outlier for the American.

The 2024/25 Championship campaign was the first time Aaronson ever scored nine league goals in his career. He benefitted from an ultra attacking system which harnessed his strengths. But Leeds may need something just a bit different in the Premier League next season.

Daniel Farke has been keen on signing a number 10 since last summer. The Whites’ failure to secure a new playmaker was what lead to Aaronson becoming first choice.

There are reports that the club could be looking to add an attacking midfielder this summer. Leeds have already moved quickly to boost the center forward position. Sources claim that it will eventually come down to Emi Buendia and Gus Hamer this summer.

Leeds could revive interest in the Sheffield United man after having bids rejected last year.

New Blades boss Ruben Selles said he is adamant on keeping the club’s best players this summer: “[Hamer] is a Sheffield United player and I want him to be a Sheffield United player when the market closes,”

But Graham Smyth posted on X that a deal for Hamer could be ”one to watch”, despite Leeds not having made an official approach yet.

Hamer’s last Premier League campaign was impressive

The last time the attacking midfielder played in the Premier League, he made quite an impact. He carried the attack of one of the more conservative teams in the competition.

Despite all this, he ranked highly in metrics for all attacking midfielders in the division. Leeds need this kind of production heading into next season. His passing may still need some work.
