Leeds United have held interest in Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer for some time, but new manager Ruben Selles isn’t wanting an exit to be confirmed.
The standout three best teams in the Championship last season were Leeds, Burnley and Sheffield United, but just like the season prior to that, the side in fourth place ended up winning at Wembley to secure promotion over the side that finished third on 90 points.
It means Sheffield United face another season in the Championship, now under new management in Ruben Selles, and therefore face speculation regarding their best players such as Gustavo Hamer.

Are Leeds United readying new offer for Gustavo Hamer after cheeky £13m offer last summer?
Last summer, Leeds were seemingly given an impression that they would be able to sign Hamer from the Blades, and therefore lodged a £13million bid – which was of course seen as insulting by the Bramall Lane club.

Hamer then went on to be the driving force behind Wilder’s side as the Championship Player of the Season, but even a standout showing at Wembley wasn’t enough to drag his side back to the Premier League.
Resigned to another EFL campaign, Hamer has unsurprisingly been linked with a move away, Leeds being one of the clubs namechecked, plus David Moyes’ Everton.
Ruben Selles has his say on Sheffield United selling Gustavo Hamer
A controversial change in the dugout has seen Wilder replaced following a 92-point campaign (two deducted), as Selles took his place off the back of being sacked by Hull City for keeping the Tigers in the division.

The Spaniard has since spoken about his talismanic midfielder, in which he is obviously not wanting him sold for the upcoming season.
“I want him to be a Sheffield United player when the market closes,” Selles told Sky Sports. “Obviously, I cannot control what will happen with the future because the market is so fluid and dynamic, but my intention is just to keep him as one of our key players.
“If we can keep him that will mean that we will be in a really powerful place to achieve our target.”
Leeds United need a number 8/10 signing, but Hamer might be worth too much compared to other targets
Hamer is a Premier League level player, and if he was available for a modest sum, then we should surely be looking at signing him.
However, Selles’ comments and Hamer’s contract running until 2027 means that we might have to pay a handsome fee to sign him, and that may not be wise.
Now that we’re in the top flight, we have access to a much wider and lucrative market, and that means we don’t have to fixate on the best of the Championship when the deals aren’t totally viable.
Hamer would be a great player to have at the right price, but that price doesn’t look like being in our favour.
