Jrue Holiday acknowledges trade from Celtics with Instagram post

The Boston Celtics made two big trades prior to the 2025 NBA Draft that included sending Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers.

And for the first time since the trade, Holiday acknowledged it with an Instagram story.

“Thank you Boston” the story said, which included a picture of Holiday wearing the Celtics championship hat after they defeated the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.

The trade didn’t come as too much of a surprise given the Celtics’ need to get under the second apron to avoid tax penalties. But, according to Heavy.com’s Steve Bulpett, Holiday was “pissed” about going to Portland.

“Now, if he winds up staying there, I’m sure he’ll be the professional he’s always been and make a positive contribution,” the source told Bulpett. “But he’s not happy with this deal. I’ll be surprised if Portland doesn’t move him on if they can, because right now he does not want to go there.”

Holiday averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 62 games for Boston this past season.
