Viktor Gyokeres is one of the most in form strikers in world football right now, with the Sweden international seemingly raising the hopes of Manchester United fans once more.

Gyokeres’ time with Sporting CP has come to a messy end with a very public breakdown between the two parties.

When the striker penned his new contract, a gentleman’s agreement was put in place for Gyokeres to leave the Portuguese side for less than his £85 million release clause.

Whilst the 27-year-old believed he could leave for a fee of £58 million, Sporting have been demanding £67 million, seeming to have breached the agreement.

However, Sporting’s president Frederico Varandas commenting that at the time of agreement, no set figures were agreed.

Now the two parties are beyond reconciliation, with Gyokeres refusing to play for the club again, however his next team is yet to be decided.

Arsenal appeared to be front-runners to sign the Swedish striker, however The Mirror has now reported this is no longer the case.

Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly done a U-turn in his priority club for next season, opening the door for Manchester United.

It’s understood that Gyokeres is now open to listening to Ruben Amorim’s pitch as the pair look at a potential reunion seven months after they parted ways.

The reason for the shift from Arsenal to United comes with the Gunners looking to prefer a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko who they’ve been linked with for some time.

Now, United could see the formidable striker move to Old Trafford with Amorim keeping in contact with Gyokeres since leaving Sporting in November.
