Luis Diaz’s future at Liverpool is under fresh scrutiny after his representatives reportedly expressed anger over the club’s handling of his contract situation and potential transfer plans.
According to Pipe Sierra on X, Diaz and his entourage believe Liverpool have “gone back on their word (once again with the player).
Something similar happened before with his contract renewal and now with the possibility of a transfer.” This development has sparked frustration within the Colombian’s camp, who now demand improved terms if Diaz is to remain at Anfield.
This isn’t the first time tension has flared. Contract talks reportedly disappeared after initial promises, and now, despite links to major clubs across Europe—most notably Barcelona—the Reds have not moved decisively in any direction.

The current situation…
The player, currently under contract until 2027, is said to be increasingly disillusioned. Sierra notes:
“Exclusive: Luis Díaz and his entourage are upset with Liverpool’ss stance. They feel the club has gone back on their word (once again with the player).
Something similar happened before with his contract renewal and now with the possibility of a transfer.”
The frustration stems not only from stalled extension talks but also the club’s indecision over a potential sale.

Will Liverpool risk losing Luis Diaz?
Diaz, 28, was instrumental last season, scoring 17 goals across all competitions. With Liverpool clinching the Premier League title and aiming to defend it in 2025/26, keeping Diaz could prove crucial—especially given the underwhelming form of attackers like Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota.
Jurgen Klopp, prior to his departure, was a staunch admirer.
“What a boy, what a story, what a player but he should have scored! He agrees probably.
The speed he has is insane. He gets our football 100 per cent. We thought we saw that at Porto.
He fits like a glove to our football and that’s really really special,” he once said of Diaz (via Liverpool Echo).

While Diaz may be approaching 30, he’s entering his prime—and Liverpool, in a summer of transition, can ill afford to lose a player of his calibre.
With exits like Jarell Quansah (Bayer Leverkusen) and Darwin Nunez (linked with Napoli) on the cards, Liverpool must act fast. Either meet Diaz’s demands or risk losing one of their most “really special” assets amid growing discontent.
