Arsenal add England star to transfer shortlist

Arsenal will face North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur during a pre-season tour of Asia next month.

Mikel Arteta’s side embark on a tour of Singapore and Hong Kong in July, facing AC Milan, Newcastle United and the Lilywhites.

The Gunners are yet to make a signing so far this summer, despite narrowly missing out on the Premier League title in each of the past three campaigns.

Arteta will likely want to bolster his squad before the start of the new campaign, and it has now emerged that the North London club have identified an England international as a possible target.

According to GiveMeSport, the Gunners have added Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze to their shortlist of targets as they search for attacking reinforcements.

The 26-year-old has established himself as a key played for the Eagles since signing from Championship side Queens Park Rangers in 2020.

In total the attacker has scored 40 goals and registered 28 assists in 167 games for the south London side across all competitions.

The report claims that Arsenal are on the hunt for a new left-sided attacking player, and Eze fits that profile although he does usually play centrally for Palace.

It is claimed that Eze has a release clause of £68 million in his current contract with Palace, which is set to expire in the summer of 2027.

The fee can be paid in three instalments, the report suggests, which could make a move for the Englishman more viable for interested clubs.

Arsenal’s fierce rivals Spurs are also said to be interested in the midfielder, who has been capped 12 times by England at senior level.

As well as Eze, Real Madrid star Rodrygo is named as another player that Arsenal are considering a move for as they search for someone to bolster Arteta’s squad on the left side.
