Chicago Bears training camp includes 11 practices open to public

SEAN HAMMOND Chicago Tribune

CHICAGO — Chicago Bears fans will have 11 chances to watch Caleb Williams and the rest of the team practice this summer during training camp at Halas Hall in Lake Forest.

The Bears announced their camp schedule Wednesday, June 25, with rookies reporting July 19 and veterans reporting July 22. The schedule includes 11 practices at Halas Hall that are open to the public with a free ticket. That includes two crossover practices, one each with the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills.

The first practice is July 23, while the first one open to the public will be two days later.

Fans will need a free ticket to watch the open practices at Halas Hall. Tickets will be available at 10 a.m. July 9 at chicagobears.com/camp.

Fans are not allowed to park at Halas Hall. They can take a free shuttle from nearby Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills. Drop-offs and rideshare services to Halas Hall will not be allowed.

Additionally, the team’s Family Fest practice will return to Soldier Field on Aug. 3 after a one-year absence. Tickets go on sale July 11 with more information available at chicagobears.com/familyfest. The Bears didn’t hold a Family Fest last year because of scheduling conflicts.

The two joint practices will be a highlight of training camp. The Bears will host the Dolphins on Aug. 8 and MVP Josh Allen and the Bills on Aug. 15. Amid the monotony of practicing against teammates every day, joint practices can be a welcome change for players.

“The way I viewed those in the past has been it’s a good opportunity to break up camp a little bit, controlled setting, yet high, high intensity,” Bears coach Ben Johnson said this spring. “The competitive nature of just about everybody, once you get in between those white lines against an opponent like that, it goes up another notch.”

Each joint practice will take place two days before a preseason game at Soldier Field.
