Cooper Flagg, Bronny James News Turns Heads After NBA Draft

The 2025 NBA Summer League officially runs from July 10-20 at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas.

Each of the league’s 30 NBA teams will play at least four preliminary games from July 10-18, with the top four by winning percentage advancing to the semifinals on July 19 and the championship on July 20.

Consolation games ensure every squad logs a fifth contest before the event concludes.

The Summer League opener has become a marquee event in its own right, pairing franchises’ most hyped rookies and prospects under bright lights.

This year’s spotlight falls squarely on two of the draft’s most-anticipated young players: Cooper Flagg, the Dallas Mavericks’ No. 1 overall selection, and Bronny James, the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2024 second-round pick and now the NBA’s first father-son teammate with LeBron James.

Flagg and James will compete against one another on Thursday, July 10.

Fans online instantly reacted to the news.

"Nasty work NBA," said one user.

"Bronny gonna drop 30 bomb on flaggs head," replied another fan.

"Lawd have mercy," another commenter responded.

"Oh my God," commented one other user.

"Bronny szn we here," said another fan.

"Drop the whole schedule already....🤦‍♂️," one other user replied.

Flagg, donning the Mavericks’ signature blue, and James, wearing Lakers white and gold, will open basketball’s annual summer showcase in a nationally televised doubleheader on ESPN.

Beyond this marquee clash, the 2025 Summer League promises to spotlight other high-profile rookies, including the Spurs’ Dylan Harper (No. 2 pick) vs. the Sixers’ VJ Edgecombe (No. 3), and give two-way players and undrafted standouts their shot at NBA rosters.
