Former Wisconsin guard John Tonje was selected by the Utah Jazz with the 53rd overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Leading the Badgers to 27 wins, Tonje averaged 19.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season. He shot 46.5 percent from the floor, including 38.8 percent from 3-point range. Tonje had six 30-point games, including a career-high 41 in a win over Arizona on Nov. 15. Tonje became the first player since Kemba Walker to register three 30-point efforts in wins over Top 10 foes.
Tonje was the first Badger selected in the NBA Draft since Johnny Davis in 2022.
A first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2024-25, Tonje began his career at Colorado State, where he spent four seasons before transferring to Missouri. As a senior in 2023-24, Tonje suffered a foot injury, forcing him to miss all but eight games, but regain a year of eligibility, eventually taking him to Madison.
Tonje is the 44th UW player to be selected in the NBA Draft, but just the seventh since 2004, joining Devin Harris, Alando Tucker, Jon Leuer, Sam Dekker, Frank Kaminsky, and Davis.
