Auburn’s All-American and national player of the year from this past season has a new home.
Johni Broome was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 35th overall pick on Thursday in the second round of the NBA Draft.
"The 76ers got a good one," Broome said when being interviewed in the green room after being drafted.
Broome, who averaged 18.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game in his final season at Auburn, will team up with players such as Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Paul George in Philadelphia.
Broome transferred to Auburn after two seasons at Morehead State and was named All-SEC all three seasons on the Plains and was an All-American in his final two.
Broome entered the NBA Draft process both after his sophomore and junior seasons, but ultimately ended up returning to school both times.

After his senior season, he was widely projected to go undrafted, and because of that, he used the extra year of eligibility given to players that played during the 2020-21 season.
In his final season, Broome led Auburn to an outright SEC Championship, the No. 1 overall seed while also becoming the first Tiger to win SEC Player of the Year since Chris Porter did it in 1999.
Broome joins a team in Philadelphia that, prior to last season, had made the postseason seven straight seasons, and it was expected to contend for a title last season with the addition of George, but an injury-marred season led to a 24-win season.
In addition to Broome, the Sixers also drafted Baylor guard VJ Edgecombe with the third overall pick.
Broome will likely compete for rotation minutes behind Embiid on a team that has NBA title expectations.
Broome is the seventh NBA Draft pick during head coach Bruce Pearl's time at Auburn, joining Chuma Okeke, Isaac Okoro, Jabari Smith, Walker Kessler, JT Thor and Sharife Cooper.
