KU Jayhawks center Hunter Dickinson finds new home in NBA on 2-way contract

Former University of Kansas big man Hunter Dickinson has signed a two-way contract with the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Thursday night.

Dickinson was not picked in the two-round NBA Draft that took place Wednesday-Thursday.

Dickinson played two seasons with KU after previously playing three seasons at Michigan. He averaged 17.4 points and 10 rebounds per game in the 2024-25 season. He shot 52.6% from the field.

Throughout his college career, Dickinson earned several impressive accolades, including being named an All-American and Big 12 Player of the Year.

Despite not earning an invite to the NBA Combine, Dickinson worked out with several NBA teams, including the Pelicans, Washington and others.

The Alexandria, Virginia, native is listed at 7-2, 265 pounds. He has range out to the 3-point line, where he shot better than 40% one season, though he made just 27.6% of his 3s in 2024-25.
