Manchester United have held “preliminary” discussions with the agents of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery, according to reports.
The Red Devils are keen to strengthen their options in midfield, with Christian Eriksen set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the month.
TEAMtalk claim that Ruben Amorim’s side have “made it clear” to Zaire-Emery and his entourage that they want to sign him this summer.

However, any move for the France international is expected to be made much later in the transfer window due to the costs involved.
PSG are not keen on selling Zaire-Emery
The 19-year-old is one of the most promising young players in France. Although he didn’t start the Champions League final against Inter Milan, he has been a regular starter under the management of Luis Enrique.
It is believed that PSG would be reluctant to offload Zaire-Emery and it may require a fee of around €100m (£85m) to secure his services.
There is no way that Man United can afford him at the moment and a formal approach will only be considered if they manage to raise enough funds through sales over the coming weeks.
Man United could have competition for the midfielder
It was reported earlier this month that Arsenal made an enquiry about Zaire-Emery’s availability, while both Liverpool and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the past.
If the teenager does come on the market, Amorim’s team would have a job on their hands persuading the player to make the move to Old Trafford, especially with no Champions League football next season. Combined with United’s limited funds, you would have to say that this transfer looks unlikely to happen at the moment.
