BROOKLYN, N.Y. (KFYR) - Devils Lake native Grant Nelson has signed a rookie free agent deal with the Brooklyn Nets. The University of Alabama forward was not drafted in either of the two rounds of the NBA Draft, but agreed to a deal with the Nets shortly after the draft ended.
Nelson, the 2020 North Dakota Mr. Basketball Award winner, led the Crimson Tide to two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. He ranked fifth in the SEC in rebounds and 12th in blocks during his senior season.
Prior to his time at Alabama, Nelson was a First Team All-Summit League selection in 2023. He was the Summit League Sixth Man of the Year in 2021 as a freshman.
