The first Auburn basketball player is off the board in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Former Tigers center Johni Broome was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 35th pick in the second round of the draft.
Broome spent three seasons at Auburn, winning several national honors and SEC awards during his final season with the Tigers.
Last year, Broome led the SEC in rebounding (10.8 per game) and blocked shots (2.1 per game). He finished tied for third in the league in scoring (18.6 points per game) and was fourth in field goal percentage (.510).
The 6-foot-10 forward guided Auburn to the SEC regular-season championship, a 32-6 final record and the second Final Four berth in school history.
After starting his college career at Morehead State, Broome is one of four players in NCAA Division I history with 2,500 points and 1,500 rebounds.
“I think that my ability to go get the ball off the glass offensively and defensively,” Broome said after working out for the Golden State Warriors. “I averaged close to 11 rebounds a game this year, and, obviously, rebounding wins basketball game.”
With Broome gone, Auburn’s frontcourt includes Mississippi State transfer KeShawn Murphy, JUCO transfer Emeka Opurum, Serbian forward Filip Jovic and incoming freshman Sebastian Williams-Adams.
