All the latest news and transfer rumour surrounding Arsenal as they continue their strong start to summer dealings.
Arsenal are now stepping up their summer transfer business with a number of deals either agreed or on their way to being agreed at this still early stage in the summer. Martin Zubimendi and Kepa Arrizabalaga are on their way in, and there are suggestions Christian Norgaard is well on his way to joining them.
Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta have shopping aplenty to do this summer and it’s expected we will see plenty more incomings by the time the summer window concludes. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Emirates Stadium.
Bidon interest
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Corinthians star Breno Bidon despite being on track to land two midfielder already. The Boot Room have claimed the Gunners have held talks over a possible deal.
The 20-year-old has already racked up 70 appearances at senior level and is emerging as a serious talent. It’s claimed Corinthians will demand around £13 million for the sale this summer.
Norgaard deal praised
Former Hamburg chief Frank Arnesen believes Arsenal are getting a top deal by signing Christian Norgaard, who was signed by Arnesen previously. He told Tipsbaldet: “It would be fantastic for him if he could get a contract at Arsenal. Christian is a fantastic guy. I have nothing but good things to say about him. You meet players many times in your life, but I always hoped this one would have a fantastic career. He has got that. He has become captain of Brentford and has done incredible.
“If he can take a step up and come to Arsenal, it would be fantastic. Every dressing room would be thrilled to have him. He has the right mentality, is a team player and has the attitude.”
MLS agreement
Arsenal have tied Myles Lewis-Skelly down to a new long-term contract, agreeing a ‘long-term deal’. The youngster had a superb breakthrough season of last, and he said upon signing his new deal: “I want a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in the game. I want to win trophies on the biggest stages whilst being a person that's always learning and stays grounded, which is so important.”
“I'm definitely more experienced now,” he added. “I know I've taken a lot of experience from the games - about the positive moments, the mistakes that I've made. I'm definitely more ready now for the next season. I just want to keep learning and keep improving.”
Reflecting on his big season, the versatile youngster added: “First, it's just the manager putting trust in me. Without him seeing me as a left back, I wouldn't be here, so I'm fully grateful and forever grateful to him. In terms of on the pitch, I'll say the north London derby and my grandma being there. I'm an Arsenal fan, so I know how much it means to them. I’ve had a lot of learning experiences I've come across and ultimately good moments for my career. I just want to keep learning and I feel more prepared now going into the new season.”
