Wichita’s Caleb Grill signs Exhibit 10 deal with Chicago Bulls

Wichita native Caleb Grill is getting his shot at the NBA.

The 2019 Maize graduate signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Chicago Bulls following the conclusion of Thursday’s NBA Draft, a source with knowledge of the situation told The Eagle.

While Grill did not hear his name called in the two-round draft, the Exhibit 10 deal gives him an opportunity to compete for an NBA roster spot during the upcoming NBA Summer League and later in Bulls training camp.

Grill is coming off a strong final collegiate season at Missouri, where he played a key role for a Tigers team that won 22 games and reached the NCAA Tournament.

The 6-foot-3 shooting guard averaged 13.7 points and shot 47.2% from the field, including 39.6% accuracy on 78 made 3-pointers. He also shot 86.4% from the free-throw line.

Grill was voted SEC Sixth Man of the Year.

The Wichita native is expected to suit up for the Bulls during NBA Summer League action next month in Las Vegas, which runs July 12-22. The Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, non-guaranteed NBA deal that includes a bonus up to $75,000 if Grill is waived and then spends at least 60 days with the team’s G League affiliate.

It’s a sign that the Bulls view him as an intriguing prospect and want to take a closer look at him this summer and in training camp.
