SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Former Augustana Viking C.J. Ham isn’t the only Minnesota Viking running back holding a football camp in Sioux Falls this summer with his backfield mate Aaron Jones stopping in town today.
The Vikings’ running back held his own youth football camp at O’Gorman High School this afternoon for kids ranging in age from 6 to 16 featuring fundamental skill stations, lectures as well as some contests and other prizes.
His message at the end of the camp to the kids was to believe in themselves no matter where they come from, tune in the positive voices and tune out the negative ones.
“Just let that go in one ear and out the other. If you’re driven, and you know where you want to be, you got to be kind of crazy about it a little bit, but your actions got to match that as well. I’m living proof that hey, you don’t have to be the biggest, you don’t have to be the tallest, you don’t have to be the fastest, well I like to think I’m kind of fast! But the thing that they can’t measure is your heart! Always believe in yourself, always put in the work and also listen to your teachers and parents. They have your best interests in mind.” Aaron said.
When he reports to Minnesota Vikings Training camp on July 26th Jones will be starting his ninth NFL season, and second with the Minnesota. He ran for 1,138 yards and five touchdowns last season.
