DALLAS – Liberty’s Taelon Peter was selected in the second round (54th overall) in the 2025 NBA Draft to the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night. Peter was the CUSA Sixth Player of the Year, a third team all-conference honoree and a member of the CUSA Championship All-Tournament Team.

The redshirt senior guard anchored the league’s third-best scoring bench (24.46) with 16.5 points per game in conference action. He came off the bench for all 18 league showdowns and eclipsed the 20-point mark on eight occasions and been over 30 points three times, including two 33-point efforts, marking the most in Liberty program history off the bench.

Peter helped guide the Flames to their first CUSA regular season and tournament title in 2025. He scored 20 points on a perfect 7-7 clip from the field and 3-3 from downtown in the CUSA title game victory over Jax State.

He is the first Flame to be taken in the draft in 40 years, when Cliff Webber was drafted in the fourth round to the Boston Celtics. The Russellville, Ark., native is the first CUSA player since Charles Bassey was selected out of WKU in 2021 to the Philadelphia 76ers.
