Denver Nuggets sign guard Curtis Jones, why it could be a great fit

Another Cyclone is beginning his professional journey.

The Denver Nuggets have agreed to a deal with former Iowa State guard Curtis Jones according to a report from ESPN's Jonathan Givony.

The move comes after both rounds of the 2025 NBA Draft concluded. Jones wasn't drafted, which didn't come as a complete surprise.

Denver could be a great spot for Jones to break into the NBA, considering the Nuggets didn't have any picks in the 2025 NBA Draft. Denver is two years removed from winning the NBA Championship and Sports Illustrated wrote the team is in need of shot makers. Jones made a habit of draining (beyond) NBA-range 3-pointers last season and shot 37.4% from distance.

Monday, Jones told channel 5 KSTP: “I definitely think I got a chance to get drafted Thursday, but if not, I definitely think I’ll end up somewhere by the end of Thursday so kind of just wait and see. But I got high hopes for it.”

Signing an NBA contract will be the latest step in Jones' unlikely ascension. He didn't have any division one or two college offers out of high school and played a year at Indian Hills Junior College before breaking into division one college basketball.
