'He will be an Arsenal player' - Sky Sports journalist claims Berta set to sign 'best striker…

Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres ‘will sign’ for Arsenal this summer, Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed.

The 26-year-old forward is reportedly expected to complete a move to the Emirates in the coming weeks of the transfer window after making Arsenal his summer priority.

Di Marzio suggests that while the Gunners also have RB Leipzig ace Benjamin Sesko in their sights, they will push to sign Gyokeres instead, as he was their first target from the start:

“It's true that Arsenal have him in their sights, but Arsenal will sign Gyökeres because he wants to join Arsenal.

“Other clubs have tried to enter the race, like Juventus, but he will go to Arsenal, and other strikers won't come if he goes there.

“He was their first target from the start, and now they have to find an agreement with Sporting. He will be an Arsenal player.”

Gyokeres is expected to depart Sporting this summer after falling out with club president Frederico Varandas and is believed to be eyed by at least three Premier League clubs.

Manchester United are claimed to be long-term admirers of the striker, who is highly appreciated by manager Ruben Amorim, while Liverpool have also been linked with a move.

Gyokeres is coming off another incredible season in Portugal, having scored 54 goals and provided 13 assists in 52 appearances, helping Sporting secure a league and cup double.

The 26-year-old, praised as 'the best striker in the world', is likely to be available for a deal worth €65m (£55m) this summer.

Arsenal are closing in on three signings to kick-start their summer business, with deals in advanced stages for goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard.

The Gunners are also making progress on a move for Valencia defender Christian Mosquera, who has given the green light to the move.
