Ajax Midfielder Linked to Everton

Megan Feringa ([The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6453595/2025/06/26/everton-rosa-van-gool-hikaru-kitagawa/)) reports that Dutch midfielder Rosa van Gool is linked to Everton. Van Gool currently plays for Ajax, where her contract expires this summer. She played for VV Ter Leede’s youth teams and moved to Ajax in 2019 to continue her development.

In October 2022, Van Gool made her senior debut—coming on for Victoria Pelova—and signed her first professional contract in May 2023. During the preparations for the 2024/25 season, Van Gool suffered an injury that sidelined her for months. She returned to the pitch in November 2024 after a determined recovery. While playing for Ajax was always one of her dreams as a fan of the club but she is now on her way for her first adventure abroad.

On the international stage, Rosa van Gool has represented the Netherlands from U15 to U23. She was part of the U20 team that reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, where they were narrowly defeated by Spain, 2-1.

Everton are expected to make multiple signings this summer, and Van Gool is reportedly one of them. Another player strongly linked with the club is defender Hikaru Kitagawa from BK Häcken, according to Tom Garry.

Kitagawa began her senior career with Urawa Reds in 2015, before moving to Albirex Niigata, INAC Kobe Leonessa, and eventually BK Häcken in 2024. The defender signed a two-year deal that runs until the summer of 2026. Last season, Kitagawa made 28 appearances, scoring four goals and registering three assists.

Meanwhile, [Sara Holmgaard](https://womenfootball.blog/confirmed-sara-holmgaard-signs-for-real-madrid/) signed for Real Madrid, Karoline Olesen is set to join Malmö FF and Justine Vanhaevermaet and Heather Payne departed the club upon the expiration of their contracts.
