Liverpool sets condition for Luis Diaz transfer this summer

Future of Liverpool star Luis Diaz is once again in the spotlight. And this time, there’s a twist.

The Reds aren’t saying no to selling him — but they’ve made it clear they won’t settle for pocket change.

The Colombian winger, who scored 17 goals last season, still has two years left on his contract.

However, there’s been no sign of a new deal. According to reports (via Pipe Sierra), Díaz and his camp are growing frustrated. They believe the club isn’t keeping its promises.

The situation has opened the door for a potential exit, but only on Liverpool’s terms. As Fabrizio Romano put it, “Liverpool are not accepting ‘normal’ proposals for Luis Díaz. It would have to be very big proposals.”

That puts clubs like Barcelona and Saudi sides in a tricky spot. They want the player, but it won’t be a discount deal. Liverpool are reportedly holding out for around £75 million. That’s not exactly a bargain bin price — even in today’s inflated market.

Should Liverpool keep or sell Luis Díaz?

It’s a tough call. Díaz has been vital to Liverpool’s attack. He’s quick, skilled, and always up for a fight — much like a Scouser chasing a late winner. But he’s also 28, and Liverpool’s strategy under FSG tends to favour younger players with long-term upside.

Still, selling him now could be a risk. With boss Arne Slot settling in and key attackers still adapting, Díaz remains one of the most reliable pieces in the squad. Losing him without a solid replacement could leave the team short out wide — and short on goals.

If Liverpool are truly moving into a new era, keeping players like Díaz around might be just as important as bringing new ones in.
