Everton Women have had a poor summer transfer window so far, but The Friedkin Group could be about to change that.

After it was confirmed that Everton Women would be playing at Goodison Park this season, hype could not have been higher for the 2025/26 campaign.

However, the Toffees’ lack of movement in the market has cast doubts on the new season, with Brian Sorensen’s side yet to make a signing.

This, combined with Sara Holmgaard’s departure to Real Madrid, has caused concerns that the Merseyside club may be going backwards this summer ahead of their move to Goodison Park.

However, Everton may finally be about to make a signing as the Toffees are linked with Rosa van Gool.

Van Gool and Kitagawa expected to sign for Everton

With Goodison Park hosting Everton Women this season, there is hope that this will attract more stars to the Merseyside club as they look to play at the historic stadium.

Now, this may have worked a treat, with The Athletic (26 June) reporting that the Toffees are close to making a double swoop.

Both van Gool and Hikaru Kitagawa look set to sign for the Merseyside club over the coming weeks and become Sorensen’s first incomings of the summer.

The former has been at Ajax since she was 22 years old and helped the Dutch giants reach the Champions League quarter-finals in 2024.

However, with her contract expiring this month, an opportunity has opened up for Everton to sign the midfielder on a free.

Van Gool has been a key player for Ajax in recent years

Kitagawa currently plays for BK Hacken and is a Japanese international.

The defender was part of Japan’s Olympic squad last summer and was also part of the Japan team that won February’s invitational SheBelieves Cup in the United States.

The two stars are expected to be the first of many international signings this summer.

This shows serious intent from Dan Friedkin, who is said to be hoping to bring in more international players before the new season starts.

The Toffees have a serious chance to build upon their recent success in the WSL, and it appears that this chance is not going to go to waste.

Everton need to speed up their business this summer

With signings no doubt needed, Everton need to ensure they are prepared for the upcoming campaign.

The Toffees cannot afford to ponder in the transfer market and risk being left behind when the season begins.

Hopefully, the news regarding van Gool and Kitagawa is proof that the Merseyside club are planning on speeding up their business.

Multiple signings are needed, and Sorensen needs to look to get all of his business done before the end of pre-season.
