Competitor ‘way ahead of Aston Villa’ to sign Unai Emery target – Making advances to reach agreement

On June 5th, we covered claims from Spain about Aston Villa’s interest in Real Betis’ Jesús Rodríguez. Since then, Como have joined the race and have been battling with the Villans for his signature.

At the weekend, ABC Sevilla reported Unai Emery has asked Monchi and Damian Vidagany to sign the winger this summer. Four days ago, AS stated Aston Villa and the Serie A club are accelerating their efforts to secure his services.

On Wednesday, Como held meeting for the 19-year-old’s transfer. Despite this, Diario de Sevilla stated on Thursday that Aston Villa are ‘stalking’ him and remain in the battle with the Italian club.

A fresh report from Diario de Sevilla explains Cesc Fàbregas’ side are now ‘way ahead of Aston Villa’ in the race to sign the player requested by Emery.

They state the Premier League club haven’t made a decisive move to sign the Spain U21 international. This currently provide Como a clear advantage to reach an agreement with Real Betis.

After Fàbregas called his compatriot, Como have taken important steps to try and agree a €30m deal with Manuel Pellegrini’s side. Several intermediaries are working behind the scenes and Como are optimistic of acquiring Rodríguez’s signature.

El Desmarque make no mention of Aston Villa, but state Como could close Rodríguez’s signing for €24m plus €6m bonuses. Real Betis will get a 15% sell-on clause.
