Bournemouth continue to cash in with transfer deals

AFC Bournemouth are expecting to receive in excess of £150 million from the sales of three players from last season’s back four.

Earlier this month, Dean Huijsen made the move from the Cherries to Real Madrid, after the Spanish giants triggered the £ 50 million release clause ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup in America.

For several months, it has also been evident that Premier League champions Liverpool wanted to sign Milos Kerkez this summer, and that deal has now been concluded for a reported £40 million.

The 21-year-old left-back has signed a “long-term” contract with Liverpool and will face his former club on the opening day of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

Speaking to Liverpool FC’s official website, Kerkez said…

“I’m really happy.

“It’s a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, [the] biggest club in England. I’m just really, really happy and excited.

“After this, I’ll go home and in my hometown enjoy a few days, and then I can’t really wait to come back and put the training kit on and start to train and prepare for the season.”

Kerkez joined AFC Bournemouth in July 2023 for a reported fee of £14 million and made 74 appearances in all competitions during his two-year spell on the south coast.

Kerkez has earned 23 caps for Hungary following his debut in September 2022.

The next departure, according to reports, could be Ilya Zabarnyi who has been heavily linked with a move to UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Sky Sports News have reported that AFC Bournemouth have already rejected an offer of around £50 million with the Cherries understandably not keen to lose another defender this summer.

Despite not wanting to sell the opportunity for Zabarnyi is obvious, so an asking price of around £70 million has been suggested in the media.

PSG’s second offer totalling £55 million for Bournemouth defender Illia Zabarnyi has been rejected.

Loved (Kerkez) as a player, his willingness for ‘a fight’ with a winger, lung-busting overlaps, all in commitment.

Yes, he’s seemed a bit of a loner, didn’t interact with fans much. Some players just need to get in the zone before, during and after games. If his Dad is his role model, then he’s done well not to be as much of a ***** as him, not even close.

We made a nice profit in the business that is football, and we move on.

Like Deano, but for different reasons, I’ll follow his progress, because given their ages, if not born, they were both made in Bournemouth. – To join the conversation, please click here.
