Newcastle Have Tabled Bids Worth £125M For 3 Different Players But There's A Problem

Newcastle are not messing around as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

The Magpies are believed to have tabled bids worth a combined £125m for Brighton’s Joao Pedro, Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga and Burnley’s James Trafford.

According to The Telegraph‘s well-informed Northern reporter Luke Edwards, Eddie Howe’s side have offered £50m each for Pedro and Elanga, and another £25m for Trafford.

However, these fees remain below the valuations that their respective clubs are demanding for their players.

Brighton do want to sell Pedro but Trafford’s asking price is steep

While £50m may not be enough to sign Pedro from the Seagulls, their valuation is said to be £60m so the two sides are not that far apart.

However, it should be pointed out that Chelsea are interested in the Brazilian too, so there is a danger that Newcastle’s bid could trigger a response from the Blues.

Trafford will also be allowed to leave Burnley this summer, but reports suggest that the Clarets want £40m, which is substantially above Newcastle’s initial proposal for the goalkeeper.

Elanga is not for sale so Newcastle may need to look elsewhere

The Magpies have already had a £45m proposal knocked back for the former Manchester United winger and it’s unlikely that £50m will be enough to secure his services either.

Forest are not interested in selling Elanga, so Eddie Howe’s side may be forced into considering alternative targets.

Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie posted on X a couple of days ago to suggest that West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus, PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko and Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi are all under consideration. For now, though, it appears that they have not given up in their attempts to snap up Elanga.
