Manchester United have taken the first steps toward a potential move for Paris Saint-Germain’s young sensation Warren Zaire-Emery.
United Monitor Zaire-Emery as Eriksen Exit Nears
Manchester Utd are seriously considering **PSG**‘s Warren Zaire-Emery as a long-term option in midfield. But, this move is not as easy as it looks.
Christian Eriksen will be leaving at the end of June when his contract expires. So the Red Devils are hunting for fresh legs in midfield. The club has now set its sights on 19-year-old Frenchman. He is one of Ligue 1’s brightest young stars.
According to reports, Utd have opened early talks to assess the terms of a possible deal. Although, no formal bid has been placed yet. Zaire-Emery is already capped by France and is a regular for PSG with over 120 senior appearances. He has shown his maturity, vision, versatility and has played a big part in what is important for a player development.
But any transfer will not be easy. PSG have slapped a €100m price tag on the teenager. That shows their desire to keep him unless a big offer comes in.
PSG Play Hardball, Red Devils Taking Their Time
PSG boss Luis Enrique wants Zaire-Emery to stay at the Parc des Princes and sees him as a big part of their future. That said, the door hasn’t been fully closed.
But, if Man Utd match their valuation, PSG could be tempted. The issue for the Amorim’s side lies in finances. The PSR (Profitability and Sustainability Rules) requires them to sell players first before making a big-money move.
Amorim’s transfer wishlist already includes Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and a new striker. That means a Zaire-Emery deal may have to wait until later in the summer.
For now, Utd have only made contact with the player’s camp. They are showing strong interest but not rushing into anything yet.
