Report: Nottingham Forest star’s friend is trying to persuade him to leave the City Ground for…

Nottingham Forest don’t want to lose any of their top stars, but a number of fringe players could still depart the City Ground.

Despite Lyon being provisionally relegated from the top division of French football, Matt Turner’s exit from Forest is still on, the first in what could be a number of gaps created in the squad.

Danilo could also join Lyon after never breaking into Nuno Espírito Santo’s plans, replaced by the ever-brilliant Elliot Anderson in midfield.

Another who could leave the City Ground only arrived last summer, with one of his close friends in the sport attempting to help him make up his mind.

Ramon Sosa’s friend is aiding his departure from Nottingham Forest

It’s become a case of when, not if, for Ramon Sosa’s Forest departure, but key aspects of any of the deals offered to the winger haven’t lined up yet.

Sosa wants to stay in Europe but Brazilian side Palmeiras remain the most interested party in his signature, with ESPN Brazil now reporting that they are hoping that one of Sosa’s Paraguayan friends can help get the deal over the line.

The report said: “The São Paulo club offered 11 million euros to Nottingham Forest for Paraguayan striker Ramón Sosa, and the English club accepted the proposal. Now, the final decision is in the player’s hands.

“[…]The negotiation has the support of Gustavo Gómez, captain of Verdão and compatriot of Sosa. The defender has already spoken directly with the striker, explaining details about the club, structure and working conditions in Brazil.”

Having a Paraguayan in the squad could be enough for Sosa to accept that his time in European football is up for now at least, giving him a comfortable environment to thrive and potentially work his way back to the continent.

Evangelos Marinakis will be hoping that this is the case, anyway, as the report detailed an aspect of any sale of Sosa that makes the Palmeiras deal the most lucrative for Forest.

Nottingham Forest wary of Ramon Sosa profit clause

It was reported at the time that Forest paid £10m for Sosa from Argentinian side Talleres, with the potential of add-ons included that his limited game time has surely not triggered.

One aspect of the deal that could be active is the percentage sell-on-fee that Talleres could make from Forest selling Sosa, with the report detailing the specific financial details.

It continued: “In the event of a sale above 11 million euros, Talleres is entitled to a capital gain, that is, a percentage of the excess value of the transaction.”

Therefore, if the Palmeiras move is accepted by Sosa, Forest won’t have to pay a penny to Talleres, making it the only solution that truly suits the club.
