Marseille unwilling to sell Leonardo Balerdi despite interest from Premier League

According to a report fromRMC Sport, Olympique de Marseille have received requests from the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Serie A for club captain Leonardo Balerdi (26). However, the Argentine is completely unattainable, with Marseille unwilling to sell,as Juventus and Roma reportedly found out.

Balerdi has become one of the key pillars to the squad since Roberto De Zerbi arrived at the start of last summer. One of the first actions of the manager was to take the captain’s armband from Valentin Rongier and provide it to the centre-back. The defender has lived up to that responsibility and acted as De Zerbi’s de facto voice on the pitch.

RMC Sport writes that they have been told that even an offer of €40 million would not be enough to persuade them. This is particularly the case with the club needing to strengthen this summer, and reportedly being in search of two experienced centre-backs, as they prepare for their return to the UEFA Champions League.
