Championship clubs often look at unwanted talent from Premier League clubs to bolster their squads in the transfer window.
The two divisions have already traded with each other this summer. Norwich City signed Jacob Wright permanently for just £2.4 million from Manchester City after starring on loan at the Canaries.
West Brom, meanwhile, have captured Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips following his successful loan spell at Derby County in the second half of the season.
Multiple other clubs, most notably Wrexham, have also scoured the Premier League market for talent. The Welsh side have been linked with veteran striker Danny Ings and left-back Aaron Cresswell on a free transfer.
But when looking at the other end of the spectrum for younger players with huge potential, Championship clubs will struggle to afford one top-flight star.

Manchester City want £12.7 million for Callum Doyle
Callum Doyle was magnificent for Norwich City last term on his fourth different loan spell away from Manchester City, having previously represented Sunderland, Coventry City and Leicester City.
As an aggressive left-sided defender who can also operate as a left-back, Doyle amassed seven assists in 40 Championship appearances last term.
The versatile 21-year-old proved he’s one of the best defenders in the division, with many feeling he can step up to the Premier League.
Unfortunately, due to the depth of quality at Man City, the Englishman won’t get an opportunity under Pep Guardiola.
That is why City are willing to sell Doyle this summer, who has already attracted lots of interest from abroad. It was revealed earlier this week that Man City rejected a £6.5 million bid from Hoffenheim, and now, TuttoMercatoWeb report that the Citizens want €15m (£12.7m) for the defender amid interest from Udinese.
With that update, any slight chance of Championship clubs winning the race for him this summer has faded.
Ipswich Town want to sign Divin Mubama
Doyle isn’t the only Man City youngster linked with a summer exit, as EFL Analysis revealed at the end of May that Ipswich were interested in Divin Mubama.
Ipswich sold Liam Delap to Chelsea for £30 million, and ahead of their return to the second tier, Mubama was seen as an option to replace the Englishman.
Mubama plundered 10 goals in nine Premier League 2 appearances in 2024/25 after joining permanently from West Ham United.
But as the 20-year-old has an impossible task of breaking into the first team ahead of Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush at Man City, a move to the Championship is an option worth exploring as he’s ready to play regular senior football.
