Ex-Chelsea defender Glen Johnson believes his former club have yet to unleash the full potential of Noni Madueke.
Speaking to aceodds.com, Johnson said that the 23-year-old “could be unstoppable” if he can discover the right mentality:
“I like Noni Madueke. He’s similar to [West Ham’s Mohammed] Kudus; he’s got that explosive speed and probably goes past people too easily. Sometimes it looks like the game’s so easy for him that he just goes through the motions a little bit.”
“If you could really get into his head, he could be a world beater. I think he’s definitely worth keeping and working with and ability-wise, he could be unstoppable.”
Madueke is not up for sale but his place is under threat
Head coach Enzo Maresca spoke out earlier this week to say he is counting on the England international next season but trusted sources close to the club claim that the Blues would be open to selling the player for the right price.

Pedro Neto is now favoured ahead of Madueke in his favoured right wing spot, and the impending arrival of Estevao means he could soon be further down the pecking order. He is only getting starts on the left flank due to a lack of other options and the arrival of Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund would make getting starting opportunities even harder.
Arsenal are waiting in the wings
The Gunners are believed to have made enquiries about the availability of Madueke and it has been reported that Chelsea would be willing to part ways with the forward for around £50m.
Some may agree that selling for that price would be a good deal, considering the likelihood that he won’t play that often next season, but others may worry that Enzo Maresca’s side will be losing someone who could yet develop into a top player.
