Vitor Pereira has an extensive shopping list to go through this summer, but inarguably the most important position to plug is Matheus Cunha’s number 10 role.
With Domenico Teti in place as a technical director and super agent Jorge Mendes pulling the strings, Wolves are poised for an exciting transfer window.
Wolves confirmed the signing of Fer Lopez last week. The 21-year-old sealed a £19.5 million switch from Celta Vigo and is thought to be a replacement for Pablo Sarabia.
Although Lopez has been compared to Jude Bellingham, the Spaniard has only made 20 senior appearances for Celta, and he isn’t expected to hit incredible numbers in 2025/26.
That is why Pereira is still in the hunt for a left-sided number 10, someone capable of creating magical moments. Sadly, one player on their radar is now set to join a Serie A club.

Wolves target Jesus Rodriguez set for £24m move to Como
Wolves joined the race to sign Jesus Rodriguez from Real Betis. The lightning-quick winger has been likened to Gareth Bale due to his explosive and powerful sprints.
Rodriguez even outperformed Cunha and Pedro Neto for successful take-ons in the past year, evincing his talents as a direct and pacey wide man.
Unfortunately, with it being claimed that a fixed fee of £21 million would secure his signature, Wolves were unlikely to pay that for a 19-year-old after signing Lopez for a similar amount.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that ambitious Italian side Como are closing in on a £24 million move for the Spaniard.
Romano claims that the ‘final details’ are going to be sorted, and then he will be confirmed as a Como player.
Rodriguez, who has been dubbed ‘extraordinary’, recently caught the eye at the under-21 European Championships for Spain, who were knocked out by England with a 3-1 defeat in the quarter-finals.
Vitor Pereira is building for the long-term
Wolves missing out on Rodriguez is a bittersweet situation. A transfer for the teenager wasn’t high on the priority list, but as he possesses incredible potential, Pereira could have signed a gem.
As it stands, though, Wolves need more players who are the finished article, someone perhaps capable of making an instant impact and replacing Cunha’s remarkable output.
The Old Gold have been linked with Lucas Ferreira, another teenage winger, which suggests the club are building for the future.
With Pereira aiming for European football in 2025/26, supporters will be pleased that there is a long-term goal in mind, and he’s attempting to sign talent who can play a part in the project.
But there will, of course, be worries that not enough outstanding talent is brought in to successfully replace Rayan Ait-Nouri and Cunha.
