Liverpool and Wrexham certainly aren’t too far apart in geographical terms, and this summer could see one Reds player make the short journey to the Racecourse.
Wrexham doing business with Liverpool would have been previously unthinkable. But now a Championship side and with plenty of money behind them, the Dragons can now realistically do deals with the Premier League champions.
This summer, Wrexham have a £25million transfer budget to spend on new players. But Phil Parkinson will also look to the free and loan markets for new signings too.
Already, Parkinson has said he wants to sign players on loan and one such player who could arrive at the Racecourse is Liverpool left-back Owen Beck.
The 22-year-old, who was born in Wrexham, spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers and now looks set for another loan move away from Anfield, with interest really heating up in the former Wales U21s man.
Wrexham are battling Rangers for Beck this summer. It’s also understood that Premier League teams are interested in signing Beck as well.

Liverpool want new contract for Wrexham transfer target Owen Beck
Whilst another loan move for Beck looks likely, Liverpool want to ensure his longer-term future at the club before letting him go out on loan. His current contract at the club expires in the summer of 2026 and Arne Slot might have extra pressure to secure Beck’s future, with Andrew Robertson’s Liverpool future now looking uncertain.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke has revealed on X that Liverpool are ‘planning to tie down’ Beck on a new deal before allowing him to leave on loan this summer. O’Rourke also reiterates Wrexham and Rangers’ interest, adding Derby County to the mix as well.
MORE WREXHAM STORIES
So far this summer, Wrexham have signed Ryan Hardie on a permanent deal from Plymouth Argyle, spending £700,000 on the striker who scored 22 goals across Plymouth’s 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons in the second tier.
Why Wrexham desperately need a left-back this summer
James McClean was perhaps Parkinson’s best option in the left wing-back position last season. It comes after Seb Revan failed to impress for Wrexham and so it’s an area that Parkinson definitely needs at least one more body this summer.
McClean alone may not be able to see through the season in such a crucial and high-intensity position on the pitch. Having Beck come in would take off some of the pressure and allow for the pair to rotate, keeping things fresh.
On top of that, Jacob Mendy could be set to leave Wrexham, further taking options away from that left-sided position.
Beck being from Wrexham could be inclined to move to the Racecourse this summer. It’s simply a case of waiting for Liverpool to seal his future and then beating some stiff competition for his signature.
