Hull City have been given a boost in their ongoing pursuit of Louie Barry from Aston Villa.
As pre-season comes close to getting underway for Hull City, the Tigers continue to gather momentum as they try to secure as many signings ahead of the campaign kicking off.
Hull City have planned a pre-season trip to Turkey, which has given owner Acun Ilicali much more reason to secure Sergej Jakirovic’s new arrivals sooner rather than later.
Hull have already confirmed the signings of Reda Laalaoui, Dillon Phillips, and Gustavo Puerta, as well as Semi Ajayi most recently.
There is clear interest in Lewis O’Brien from Hull City’s side, and that could be followed up by Louie Barry, who, according to reports, could find himself back at the MKM Stadium this season.

Hull City make progress on Louie Barry permanent deal
Aston Villa are prepared to sell Louie Barry on a permanent deal, and are understood to be doing so with urgency in order to bring in revenue ahead of submitting their accounts prior to Monday’s deadline.
As a result, Hull City find themselves as the frontrunners to sign Barry, according to a report from Hull Live.
Hull City and Ilicali have a good relationship with Aston Villa, which is partly down to the two clubs’ deals in recent years, including with Jaden Philogene and Barry’s loan spell at the MKM Stadium last season that was unfortunately cut short due to injury.
It is said that signing Barry permanently remains a top priority for Hull, and Ilicali is keen to pursue such a deal.

Louie Barry will have reason to prove himself at Hull
Throughout Barry’s career, he has been given countless loan spells with differing levels of success. Only recently, through the help of Stockport County and Dave Challinor, has Barry met expectations, having shone at both League One and Two levels.
However, the most recent spell at Hull went sideways after Barry’s season-ending injury, meaning he never got the chance to fully prove himself at Championship level.
A return to Hull will be a priority for Barry, not only because of his ambitions to succeed with the Tigers and at Championship level, but he will want to put down his marker after a permanent move from Aston Villa, one that feels as if it was years in the making.
The move to Hull will give Barry the platform to truly kick on with his career, one that will hopefully see him eventually reach the Premier League, either with the Tigers or someone else.
