Everton transfer target Nick Woltemade is reportedly attracting interest from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. The 23-year-old is understood to have been on Blues' radar this summer.

But, should the club wish to pursue the 6ft 6in Stuttgart star, they may have their work cut out, with reports in Germany suggesting he could be on his way to Bundesliga champions Bayern.

Woltemade hit 12 goals in the league and led Stuttgart to the DFB-Pokal Cup in what was essentially a breakthrough campaign for the starlet. That form led to a senior international call-up at the end of the season.

His performances in Slovakia at the European Under-21 Championship with Germany have raised his profile even further. Woltemade has scored six times in the tournament to fire his country through to the final, where they face England on Saturday, including in the 3-0 semi-final win over France. He has also been a creative force, providing three assists.

That impact has led interest in him to step up over recent weeks.

Stuttgart chiefs had been hopeful he would sign a fresh contract with sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth telling German publication Bild last week: “Of course, we’re also following the reports.

“But at this point, everyone can rest assured Nick’s immediate future is secured by a three-year contract with VfB Stuttgart.

“Any discussions with Nick’s management are not about clarifying his sporting future, but rather about us wanting to contractually express our appreciation for his outstanding sporting development.

“I am very confident that we will bring the discussions to a successful conclusion.”

Stuttgart hold the cards over Woltemade’s future due to the length of time remaining on his current deal, but the club looks set for a battle should it want to keep him.

Spanish publication Marca reported Real Madrid were now tracking him while reports in Germany went further, with Sky claiming Bayern Munich had agreed personal terms for the forward - though the broadcaster added no deal had been agreed with his current club.
